Caleb University organises digital exhibition for young innovators

Caleb University, Lagos, last month hosted a groundbreaking one-day workshop and digital exhibition to demonstrate its commitment to innovation, entrepreneurship and focused-based education. The high-impact event with the “Transforming Digital Products to Revenue,” was organized by the University Tech Hub in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science and took place at the institution’s Multipurpose Hall in Imota. The workshop, which attracted students, software developers, tech enthusiasts, innovators and members of the academic community, was designed to equip young innovators with practical strategies for transforming technological ideas into commercially viable enterprises. In his opening address at the event, the Vice- Chancellor of Caleb University, Prof. Olalekan Asikhia, charged students to move beyond ordinary digital literacy and embrace value-driven innovation capable of solving societal challenges while generating wealth. He emphasized that the global economy is increasingly being driven by technology and creative entrepreneurship, urging participants to maximize the opportunities provided by the university’s rapidly expanding digital ecosystem. According to the Vice Chancellor, the institution remains committed to producing solution-oriented graduates equipped with the technical competence, entrepreneurial mindset and global exposure required to thrive in the modern technology-driven world.   “Technology must move beyond coding for entertainment to coding for impact, relevance and economic transformation. The Caleb University Tech Hub was established to serve as a launchpad for future innovators and creators who will build sustainable digital solutions capable of competing globally,” Prof. Asikhia stated. On his part, the programme coordinator, Dr. Ayorinde Oduroye, noted that the Department of Computer Science continues to position itself as a centre for practical technology education and innovation-driven learning. He added that the initiative reflects the university’s determination to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world digital applications. One of the keynote facilitators, Ms. Queensley Ademola, a Product Development Manager and DevOps Engineer, delivered an engaging session on building scalable digital systems capable of serving millions of users. Ademola, who shared her experience in educational technology and software deployment, educated students on customer-focused product design, stakeholder management and the importance of building resilient digital infrastructures. Also speaking, Mr. David Efod, a Full-Stack Developer and Product Engineer, challenged students to abandon the culture of building projects without commercial value. He encouraged participants to focus on creating market-ready products capable of attracting investment and generating revenue streams. According to him, the future belongs to developers who can identify problems, build practical solutions and successfully position such products within the marketplace. The highlight of the workshop was the digital exhibition segment anchored by Sodiq Awojobi, alongside Ms. Ademola and Mr. Efod. This showcased innovative project ideas, artificial intelligence applications, real-time dashboards and monetization-driven software solutions. Participants described the programme as highly transformative, intellectually stimulating and practically enriching, noting that the sessions exposed them to the realities of the global technology economy and the limitless opportunities within the digital space.
